Josefina Vidal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, has rejected and denied press reports about alleged contacts between Cuban officials and the United States government to discuss internal matters related to Venezuela.
For your information, we reproduce below the statements published on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX).
The aggressions and threats of war against our sister nation of Venezuela have provoked widespread international condemnation and condemnation within the United States. In this context, warmongering sectors in the United States are resorting to blatant lies to try to break the unity of the Venezuelan government and people against external aggression, as well as to implicate Cuba in the fabrication of falsehoods and pretexts to justify their aggression.
Cuba rejects as absurd and false the press reports that claim alleged contacts between Cuban officials and the United States government to discuss internal matters that are solely the responsibility of the Venezuelan government.
Likewise, Cuba rejects attempts to tarnish its spotless record of fighting for peace in Latin America and the Caribbean and against drug trafficking. Specialized U.S. agencies are well aware of Cuba’s effectiveness in combating drug trafficking, having directly benefited from it, until Secretary of State Marco Rubio unilaterally ordered the severing of dialogue and cooperation on migration and law enforcement.
Any attempt to exploit the current situation against the Bolivarian Revolution to cast doubt on the unwavering and steadfast support of our people and government in these perilous circumstances for Latin America and the Caribbean will be futile.
