
HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 5 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Foreign Minister, reaffirmed the zero-tolerance policy toward international drug trafficking and highlighted the nation's commitment to the fight against this scourge.
Cuban diplomat emphasized that his country is not a producer, storage facility, or transit point for illicit drugs, nor is there any money laundering.
In a message on X, Rodriguez Parrilla highlighted the island's efforts in the fight against drugs, focused on a "comprehensive strategy that combines prevention and confrontation, aimed at consolidating a culture of rejection of drug use."
He mentioned the coordinated work of the National Drug Commission, the creation of territorial subgroups in all provinces, and the inauguration of the National Drug Observatory.
"Cuba maintains active cooperation with counterpart services in the region and reaffirms its commitment to international treaties and conventions, always acting in accordance with International Law and with respect for human rights," he stated.
These efforts, he said, reflect Cuba's responsibility in the global fight against drug trafficking.
At a press conference held in Havana on Thursday before national and international media, Colonel Juan Carlos Poey Guerra, head of the specialized anti-drug unit of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), reported that between 2024 and 2025, 72 drug shipments originating from 11 different countries, mostly the United States, were intercepted by air.
