
Havana, Nov 20 (ACN) The visiting governor of the Russian city of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov and his counterpart of the Cuban western city of Matanzas Marieta Poey agreed to encourage new generations of citizens their capacity of preserving current bilateral relations.
During an exchange at the headquarters of the provincial government of Matanzas, Beglov said “We must do everything possible so that our children communicate, get to know each other, and become friends,” stressing the significance to provide them with an education that will allow them to be worthy successors of previous generations.
During the meeting, Beglov commented that he found the “Maravillas de la Infancia” Pioneer children Camp, located in the Varadero tourist area, very interesting. He highlighted the human values of its staff and the beauty of the surroundings-- “The sea is impressive; I am convinced that our children will really like that camp.”
Moved by the impact of Hurricane Melissa in eastern Cuba, the governor of Saint Petersburg praised the government's management capacity in preventing the loss of human life during such a complex event.
Governor Poey on her part, provided information about the socioeconomic characteristics of Matanzas, its potential and challenges, and assured that the aspirations for the future expressed by the visiting delegation for children, young people, and students match the wishes of Cubans, who are eager to maintain bilateral collaboration links.
