
Havana, Nov 18 (ACN) — Cuba and the Dominican Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation on environmental matters, according to a post today on the official Facebook page of Cuba’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma).
CITMA president Armando Rodríguez Batista and Paíno Hernández, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Dominican Republic, signed the agreement establishing actions towards the conservation and restoration of land and marine ecosystems, the management of protected areas, and the monitoring of different species.
According to the post, the agreement also covers the prevention of plastic pollution and waste management, as well as adaptation and resilience to climate change. It includes actions related to environmental finance and climate monitoring.
With this step, in the context of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), Cuba and the Dominican Republic strengthen their active role in environmental protection and in the search for shared solutions to ensure a sustainable future for the Caribbean.
