
HAVANA, Cuba, November 7 (ACN) The National Road Center reported on the condition of the roads in the eastern provinces following Hurricane Melissa, noting sections under repair and safety restrictions, as stated by Eduardo Rodriguez Davila, Minister of Transportation, on his Facebook profile.
In the province of Las Tunas, the Tunas–Puerto Padre section is now passable, although the Plan Lechero bridge still has water accumulation. The Tunas–Ojo de Agua road continues to be repaired, with traffic proceeding with caution.
Holguin maintains restrictions on the Moa–Baracoa highway, which is open only to specialized transport.
The Holguin–Moa and Palma–Barajagua roads are under repair, with general traffic permitted with caution.
Granma reported progress on the Bayamo–Cauto Embarcadero and Cauto Embarcadero–Rio Cauto sections, both of which are under repair.
Specific measures have been established on the El Salado bridge: a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour and passage of one vehicle at a time.
The Manzanillo–Niquero highway and the Pilon junction remain under repair, while the Granma highway is experiencing damage that limits access to specialized transport.
Santiago de Cuba maintains normal traffic flow on the Guantanamo–Santiago and Santiago–Bayamo sections.
However, the highway to Holguin and the road to the 2nd Front are under repair, with traffic proceeding with caution.
The Cuatro Caminos–Los Reinaldos section continues to be affected by the collapse of the access bridge, restricting access to specialized transport. The communities of Ocujal, Palma Mocha, La Plata, La Magdalena, El Macho, and El Macio remain isolated.
In Guantanamo, the Guantanamo–Baracoa highway has been declared open, although drivers are advised to proceed with caution.
Recovery efforts in eastern Cuba are progressing in coordination with the Provincial Defense Councils, and road safety measures remain in place in the affected areas.
