HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 4 (ACN) The Eastern Cuba Granma Electric Company reported via its Facebook profile that the Juan Pérez, La Sabana, and Yara solar photovoltaic parks are already contributing or will soon contribute to the stability of the provincial microsystem after the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
Julio Antonio Zamora Aguilera, director of the Business Unit for Renewable Energy Sources, stated that the Juan Pérez park synchronized yesterday with a generation of 3.6 megawatts, although it had to be disconnected in the afternoon due to low solar radiation.
The La Sabana facility remains ready to start up, awaiting the restoration of the circuit that powers it, with a potential capacity of 21.8 megawatts.
At the Yara park, the testing protocol was applied and it synchronized with a generation of 4.5 megawatts, adjusted to the available radiation, with plans to operate until the demand from the microsystem decreases.
The integration of these renewable sources, together with the power generators, will allow for a more stable operation of the electrical system in the province, the executive specified.
The Granma Electric Company stated that the final goal will be full synchronization with the National Electric System when conditions allow.
