HAVANA, Cuba, August 8 (ACN) Cuban government awarded scholarships to young people from Saint Kitts and Nevis for university studies in Cuba during a ceremony at its embassy to that country, Prensa Latina reported.
Hollis Prentice, president of the Association of Saint Kitts and Nevis graduates in Cuba, highlighted the educational impact received on the island.
The scholarship holders, including future doctors, engineers, and a dentist, signed the ethics code before national symbols of both nations and an image of historic leader Fidel Castro.
David Rivero, Cuban ambassador to Saint Kitts and Nevis, urged the students to take advantage of the academic opportunity. "Cuba maintains its commitment to solidarity with its sister nations," Rivero stated.
Daveen Wilkin, chief of medical staff at the Saint Kitts and Nevis General Hospital and graduated in Cuba as an anesthesiologist, suggested the young people focus on their studies: "Take advantage of this gift; it will be the foundation of your future," she said.
Agricultural engineer Erick Browne, also graduated in Cuba, encouraged the fellows to learn about the academic excellence and human values of the Cuban educational system.
The educational cooperation program benefited thousands of international youth.
