HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 22 (ACN) The Civil Defense General Staff declared the normal situation for four of the five provinces of eastern Cuba, except for Guantanamo, which reports major damage by the passage of Hurricane Oscar, which then degraded to a tropical storm.
The following is the text of the message.
“Taking into account that tropical storm Oscar is moving away from the national territory and does not represent danger for the eastern region, it was decided to move to normality as of 09:00 hours today to the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguin and Las Tunas, as they do not present any affectations.
The experiences learned during the preparations and response to this event should be included in the decisions and plans for disaster risk reduction at all levels.
The work carried out by the leadership bodies in all the territories and the discipline shown by the population in complying with the measures taken during the preparations for and response to this event is acknowledged.
