HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 11 (ACN) During a parliamentary visit to the central province of Sancti Spiritus, Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power, urged managers and rice workers of the municipality of La Sierpe to constantly seek alternatives with creative and innovative thinking, to increase the production of this grain.
As reported Saturday by the Cuban legislature on its website, Lazo Hernandez, who is also president of the Council of State visited lot number 7 of the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) Sur del Jibaro, where he emphasized that a strong production of this rice production center could self-supply the province and contribute to the allocation of the basic food basket consumed by other parts of the country, in addition to strengthening exports.
Along with the deputy president of the Parliament, Ana Maria Mari Machado, and the highest provincial authorities, Lazo considered that they should be seen not only as a rice pole for the sake of national self-sufficiency, but also as an exporter in the medium and long term.

Later, Esteban Lazo went to the Melanio Hernandez power plant, in the municipality of Tagusaco, where he discussed its current state and prospects, the progress of the harvest and the need to comply with the agreements and project increasingly higher goals.
