Diaz-Canel sends condolences to Xi Jinping on the death of Jiang Zemin

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 2 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party (PCC) and president of the country, sent a message to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, expressing his deep sorrow for the death on Wednesday of his dear friend Jiang Zemin, at 96.

According to a report published today on the PCC website, Diaz-Canel recalls in his letter, dated November 30, that Jiang made a great contribution to the socialist cause of the People's Republic of China and to the promotion and comprehensive development of the ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and that Asian nation, which made him worthy of the Jose Marti Order.

In the letter to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China ( PCCh) and president of the People's Republic of China, the Cuban head of state extended, on behalf of the people, the PCC, the Government and his own, his deepest condolences to the Chinese people, Party and Government, as well as to Jiang Zemin's family and close friends.
