HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 28 (ACN) Casa de las Americas, a leading institution in the promotion and cultural research in the American continent, described as a provocation the events that took place in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba (MINCULT).
In its official Twitter profile, the entity holds that the congregation of some thirty people outside the building of the organization is part of a reality constructed to confuse public opinion about the situation in Cuba.
In addition, the entity posted on its portal La Ventana a message for friends and followers of Casa's promotional work, stating that in recent months the U.S. government has strengthened the blockade and launched an intense media campaign to tarnish Cuba's image.
"Recently, the anti-Cuban industry has given wide visibility to a small number of people who demand dialogue, but, evidently, they are not interested in dialogue. This group, with its actions, seeks to provide arguments to Yankee-sponsored media to impose the opinion matrix that in Cuba there is an irreconcilable confrontation between creators and institutions," the article states.
MINCULT issued an official communiqué to ratify its willingness to dialogue with honest creators on any issue related to the cultural policy of the Cuban Revolution and its refusal to accept provocations or to hold talks with mercenaries.
This new demonstration against Cuban culture takes place on the eve of the January 28th celebration of the anniversary of Martí's birth, which this year will take place virtually due to COVID-19.
