HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 23 (ACN) The Cuban ambassador to Liberia, Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera, and the United Nations resident coordinator there, Kingsley Opoku Amaning, exchanged on the internal situation of the country after the holding of senatorial elections and national referendum.
The Cuban diplomat also updated her colleague on Cuba's achievements in its fight against the pandemic at a time when the United States has tightened the economic, commercial and financial blockade that affects all aspects of the Cuban people's lives, the Cuban foreign ministry said today on its Cubaminrex website.
At the same time, a statement published by the Cuban embassy to New Zealand indicates that the Cuban ambassador there, Edgardo Valdes, and the consul Dalila Vazquez, had meetings with businessmen, congressmen, local authorities, academics, journalists, members of solidarity groups and Cuban residents.
On the other hand, the Cuban ambassador to Guinea Bissau, Raul de la Peña Silva, and the president of the People's National Assembly of that African country, Cipriano Cassama, assessed the state of relations between the parliaments of both countries and updated the bilateral agenda for 2021.
Cassama emphasized that Cuba is a friendly, safe and historic country, whose relations date back to the struggle for independence from the Portuguese colonial oppression, when Cuban doctors and combatants lent their solidarity to the young Guinean guerrilla, for which their people and government are eternally grateful.
Referring to the priorities for the next year, the leader pointed out as crucial to continue fighting for the political stability of the country, the confrontation to the pandemic -where Cuba has played a significant role with the sending of a medical brigade belonging to the Henry Reeve Contingent- and the need to boost the bilateral relations among the parliaments, taking advantage of the experience Cuba has achieved in this activity.
