HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 17 (ACN) The non-state sector in Cuba's economy will be more involved in gastronomic, personal and technical service management, Betsy Diaz, head of the Domestic Trade Ministry (MINCIN), said.
She spoke at the National People's Power Assembly (Parliament), which will be in session till today, December 17, although virtually due to the health situation caused by Covid-19.
In her report to lawmakers, Diaz announced the MINCIN improvement program, which goes hand in hand with the monetary overhaul and the implementation of the socioeconomic strategy adopted by the Government in the face of the pandemic and for the future.
She explained that a first survey accounted for 3,506 gastronomy units that will move to a new state management.
She stressed that 4,000 other gastronomy and service facilities may be managed by non-state forms, which include the so-called sole traders and cooperatives, although in the future, the involvement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is envisaged in the aforementioned strategy.
