HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) Cuba denounced this week at the Consultative and Executive Council of the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (PUASP) the selection of platforms being blocked for the Caribbean country, as part of the hostile policy of the United States.
According to the Institutional Communication Direction of the Cuban Ministry of Communications (MINCOM), the implementation of a System for Telematic Assistance of the PUASP affects the Cuban participation in several events held virtually.
In a briefing statement, it says this is a clear manifestation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba, which technically prevents full access to the Internet, services and platforms, under the same conditions as the rest of the PUASP member states.
The accusation took place by videoconference, regarding Cuba's participation in the Council, held from October 20-22 with the presence of 28 member countries and chaired by Mexico.
The meeting reviewed the work of the Associatioa between two Congresses and analyzed issues such as the management carried out by the General Secretariat during 2020, the results of the working groups (Strategic Planning, Finance of the Association, Regulatory Affairs, Technical Cooperation, among others).
The meeting also held the presentation of the accounts for the financial year and the external audit for 2019, the draft budget of the Union for 2021, as well as, in technical cooperation matters, the progress made with the Postal Development Plan for Latin America (PDR) and the Union's Action Plan for 2021.
The Cuban delegation was composed by the regulatory entity, MINCOM, and by the appointed operator, as well as by the Cuban Post Office Business Group.
