HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 3 (ACN) The Cuban communist party joined the international call for cooperation in fighting the COVID-19, a statement signed by 230 political parties from more than 100 countries, the Granma newspaper reported Friday.
The newspaper publishes in complete form the Joint Call of the Political Parties for International Cooperation in the Battle against COVID-19, which recognizes that the new coronavirus "has put us in front of the most urgent and serious challenge for human health and peaceful global development.
The leading political parties from different countries around the world, committed to the common good, national development, peace and global stability, reaffirmed the highest respect for all workers, especially medical professionals who dedicate themselves to saving lives and ensuring public health.
They expressed their heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with the people of several countries suffering from the disease, with their lives threatened and with the families of the victims; and they sent their deepest condolences to those who have unfortunately lost their lives as a result of this epidemic.
The endorsers encourage nations to coordinate economic and social development with outbreak mitigation and to take specific measures to protect vulnerable people and small and medium enterprises to ensure people's living conditions and social development.
They also welcome the Joint Statement issued at the Special G20 Leaders' Summit on COVID-19.
The statement refers to their support to countries in fostering the exchange of experiences and health cooperation, including the joint development of medicines, possible vaccines and test kits.
