MATANZAS, Cuba, Oct 15 (ACN) “There are coincidences to study in order to develop cooperation”, Nguyen Duc Dung, deputy permanent secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam, said to local party and government officials who sat with the Vietnamese delegation to discuss ways of taking the relations with their province to new heights.
The meeting took place at the Che Guevara Hall, where Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, gave a press conference on the occasion of the celebration of the first elections of the People's Power system held in Cuba.
“At the time of the anti-Yankee resistance, the Cuban people offered us their valuable selfless help, something that our country in general and the people of Quang Nam in particular will never forget, as those two syllables, Cuba, are always in our hearts,” Duc Dung stressed.
On his end, Mario Sabines Lorenzo, first secretary of the Communist Pary of Cuba in the province of Matanzas, remarked that inter-party ties are key to develop full-fledged working relations between the two socialist nations and underscored that the Vietnamese delegation’s visit will contribute to regular and ever-growing links of cooperation in fields of common interest.
The exchange coincided with the significant date of the 60th anniversary of the execution of the Vietnamese hero Nguyen Van Troi, after whom two local schools are named.
In 2025, Cuba and Vietnam will celebrate 65 years of diplomatic relations and strong ties of brotherhood forged by leaders Fidel Castro Ruz and Ho Chi Minh.
