HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 24 (ACN) Cuba’s Alejandro Parada finished tenth in the long jump final event of the 19th World Athletics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.
Parada, who was first in the recent Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, could barely reach the 7.86-meter mark in the competition for the medals, even if being one of the 12 finalists is a good result, inasmuch as his youth and qualities suggest that the best is yet to come.
On Wednesday, the 19-year-old athlete made it to the final after a jump of 8.13m in his second attempt, only two centimeters shy of his personal best.
The Greek Miltiadis Tentoglu, Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020, won with a jump of 8.52 m in his sixth and last attempt.
