Jamaica announced the arrival of 30 Cuban health workers who have been trained in Ebola management, under a human resource agreement between Havana and Kingston.

In a sixth editorial published in English and Spanish since October 12, this time entitled A Cuban Brain Drain, Courtesy of the U.S., The New York Times blasts the US program implemented by the Bush administration, and still underway, to encourage defection of Cuban medical personnel from assignments overseas. The program, says The Times, is particularly hard to justify.

The president of the Latin American Diabetes Association (ALAD), Doctor Felix Manuel Escaño stressed the successful Cuban program for the prevention and control of diabetes by describing it as an example to follow in the region.

The general secretary of the Union of Latin American Nations (UNASUR), Ernesto Samper criticized the exclusion of Cuba from the Summit of the Americas describing the action as sitting at the dinner table without inviting a family member.

For the fifth time in less than a month, the newspaper The New York Times published a long editorial on Cuba, on this occasion acknowledging the countless destabilizing attempts of the United States designed to cause the fall of the government in Havana, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.

Alicia Barcena, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), asserted on Tuesday that the voting against the U.S. blockade of Cuba at the 69th period of sessions of the United Nations General Assembly is yet another example of how the international community continues to expect a positive reaction from the United States.

For the 23rd occasion, Cuba will today submit to the UN General Assembly the resolution "Necessity to End the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade Imposed by The United States of America against Cuba. The document will be submitted to over 190 UN member nations.

Bolivian Health minister Juan Carlos Calvimontes announced in La Paz that six doctors from his country will attend a preparatory meeting in Cuba on the clinical management of Ebola.
