HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 1 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro started his official visit to France with a welcome ceremony under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, reported Prensa Latina news agency.
During the ceremony, presided over by Marie-Ségolène Royal, French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, they performed the traditional laying of a floral wreath to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and played both national anthems.
Later, the Cuban head of state traveled the Champs-Elysees avenue, decked out in Cuban flags.
This afternoon, French President Francois Holland will meet with his Cuban counterpart at the The Élysée Palace, the official residence of the Presidents of France, and they will hold a press conference, before a state dinner to honor the Cuban President.
Raul Castro arrived in Paris on Saturday, leading a delegation that includes Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, Vice-President Ricardo Cabrisas and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca, among others.
