Cuba Arab Association blasts assassination of Lebanese militant

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 23 (acn) With deep sorrow and indignation, the Cuban Arab Association condemned the assassination of legendary Lebanese combatant of Hezbollah Samir Al Kantar amidst attacks perpetrated by an Israeli raid against a residential area in the city of Jaramana, in Damascus.

After years of imprisonment in Israeli jails, Al Kantar had been released in 2008, in a swap of prisoners between Hezbollah (God´s Party) and the Israeli government following a world campaign demanding his release.
His death in Syria as an internationalist combatant in the defense of the cause of the Arab peoples turns him into a symbol of patriotic resistance against Zionist and imperialist enemies and the mercenary and terrorist forces that try to impose their supremacy in the Middle East, the Cuban Arab Association stressed.
