ALBA Countries to accompany Venezuelan legislative vote

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 5 (acn) The regional integration bloc known as Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People´s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) will send a mission to accompany next Sunday´s legislative elections in Venezuela.

In a special communiqué issued in Caracas and posted on the webpage http://www.pensandoamericas.com, the bloc, made up by Latin American and Caribbean nations say that their mission will join others from the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), the South Common Market (MERCOSUR), The South American Parliament (PARLASUR), among others who, will be there to take a message of peace to the Venezuelan people.

The regional organization of countries also congratulated the Venezuelan government and the UNASUR electoral mission for having promoted an accord for the respect of the vote´s results and for having called on the Venezuelan opposition to sign such accord.

At the same time, the communiqué denounces what it calls the international lobby launched by imperial powers aimed at not recognizing the electoral results and at promoting the allegation of fraud as a strategy to favor an intervention in Venezuela.

The ALBA countries also called on the international community to repudiate the campaign of manipulation and destabilization against the Venezuelan government and the interference with the internal affairs of that country and not to echo situations which are foreign to the elections or the political reality of Venezuela, in tune with the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
