A press release from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) states that the Cuban presence in that event will serve to exhibit "the richness and variety of our tourism product," making emphasis on sun and beach, the star modality of this destination.
Participants will also be updated on the tourist potential of Havana, Varadero, the cays, Holguin and Santiago de Cuba, main regions of interest to the Hispanic market.
Varadero is expected to concentrate the keenest attention because the 33rd edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITCuba, the most important tourist event in Cuba, will take place from May 7 to 10, at that resort
In addition, the event will offer details on the International Congress of Nature Tourism (TURNAT) and the CMAS World Underwater Photography Championship, which will be held in the eastern province of Granma and Cayo Largo, south of the Cuban archipelago, in April and September, respectively.
More than 50 experts and officials from international hotel companies based in Cuba, travel agencies, and the Cuban national airline, among other sectors, will represent Cuba in the event, headed by Xiomara Martinez Iglesias, Deputy Minister of Tourism, the press release notes .
Cigra roller Jose Castelar Cairo ( Cueto), who owns several Guinness records formaking the world's longest cigars, will accompany the particpants to the Fair.
The Cuban stand will offer Cuban typical drinks tastings, enlivened by traditional music and other elements of the animation to recreate an atmosphere of the Cuban way of life, in synergy with the concept of the promotional campaign ¨Authentic Cuba¨ .
FITUR is considered one of the most notorious events in the global landscape of exhibitions, expositions, and other professional meetings of tourism .
According to MINTUR, among countries with a tradition of issuing visitors to Cuba, the Spanish market was placed in the tenth seat in 2012.
