HAVANA, Cuba, January 27 (ACN) The Cape Times, a South African-based newspaper, published an article by activist Fatima Swartz denouncing recent US threats against Cuba and reaffirming the South African movement's solidarity with the island, reported the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Cubaminrex.
The article, titled “US Checkmate Against Cuba Is Doomed to Failure,” analyzes the context created by the US aggression against Venezuela and warns that the Donald Trump administration is now turning its attention to Cuba with political pressure tactics.
Swartz, a founding member of the solidarity movement with Cuba in South Africa, emphasized that the Cuban response has been firm and dignified, heir to centuries of struggle for independence and national sovereignty.
In her words, “defending the country's sovereignty is in the DNA of Cubans.”
The publication highlighted that the US strategy seeks to divide and subjugate, but faces the resistance of a people who have demonstrated resilience in the face of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington for more than six decades.
The article, published by a widely circulated media outlet in South Africa, reflects the importance of international solidarity and the continued relevance of support for Cuba in scenarios of global political confrontation.
