Havana--- US Secretary of State John Kerry and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez met in Panama prior to the opening today of the 7th Summit of the Americas, as confirmed by sources with the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
The US State Department posted on its Twitter account a picture of Kerry and Rodriguez shaking hands in a meeting considered of the highest diplomatic level between Havana and Washington in over half a century, Granma newspaper reported.
On Thursday, the US State Department recommended the White House that Cuba should be removed from the US blacklist of countries sponsors of international terrorism, but President Barack Obama has not yet notified his decision to Congress, which will have 45 days to issue a statement on the issue.
