Cuba marks Mexico's Independence Day

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 16 (ACN) On the occasion of the 215th anniversary of the Grito de Dolores (Cry of Dolores), Cuba greets today the Government and people of Mexico on their Independence Day.

On behalf of the Cuban Government, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero congratulated, on X, the Mexican people on their National Holiday, which commemorates the September 16, 1810, uprising led by Father Miguel Hidalgo.Cuban premier also thanked taht nation for its support and solidarity.

For his part, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, in a message on the same social network, reaffirmed his country's willingness to continue developing friendship and cooperation ties.

From September 8 to Tuesday, September 16, Cuba has been holding a cultural event in honor of Mexican Independence Day.Both nations have maintained a strong historical and cultural bond, in addition to diplomatic relations that celebrated their 123rd anniversary this year.

With the Grito de Dolores, a call to the people of Dolores Hidalgo to rise up in arms against Spanish rule, the Mexican War of Independence began, which would last 11 years, until September 27, 1821.

During national holidays, thousands of Mexican families gather in plazas, main city centers, and city halls to commemorate the Grito de Independencia.
