HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 23 (acn) Cuba´s first vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel is paying a two-day official visit to India on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Havana and New Delhi.
Diaz-Canel arrived in India after making an African tour that included South Africa, Angola and Namibia.
In India, the Cuban first vice-president is scheduled to meet with local top government authorities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which will be the highest level meeting between the two countries since October 2013.
India´s Vice-president Hamid Ansari visited Havana in 2013 and met with President Raul Castro and with Revolution leader Fidel Castro.
Diaz-Canel will also meet with President Pranab Mukherjee, and he will participate at a courtesy banquet on the invitation of his counterpart Hamid Ansari, according to PL news agency.
On Tuesday, Diaz-Canel will visit the city of Agra, 180 kilometers south of Delhi, as well as the Taj Mahal and other cultural centers in that nation.
