Cuban VP begins work agenda in Vietnam

 HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 28 (ACN) Cuban vice president Salvador Valdes Mesa began today his work agenda in Vietnam, where he arrived on Sunday to attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the southern part of that Indochinese nation.

As reported by the Presidency on X, Valdes Mesa, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), toured the Qu Chin High-Tech Industrial Agricultural Park.

In this institution, which uses science and innovation to obtain varieties of seeds and aquaculture species, Cuban VP expressed his country interest in exchanging experiences in the production, particularly of rice and corn.

The Presidency noted that the parties agreed to start as soon as possible the exchange of scientific and technological information, and to promote the first meetings between specialists of both countries, to start the projects.

Later, Valdes Mesa was received at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Organizations Association, where he held a meeting with veterans of the resistance war, businessmen and Vietnamese students who graduated in Cuba.

According to the report, the Vice President thanked the Vietnamese solidarity for its support to Cuba, and expressed that it is a source of pride for both peoples that friendship and mutual affection were forged in the times of Vietnam's struggle against U.S. imperialism.

In the afternoon, the Cuban delegation paid tribute to the leader of the Vietnamese independence movement Ho Chi Minh, in front of the statue erected in his memory in the center of the city that bears his name in southern Vietnam.

A wreath on behalf of the PCC, the State, the Government and the people of Cuba was laid in honor of the independence leader, while the Cuban Vice President and the delegation accompanying him dedicated a minute of silence to the memory of the Vietnamese hero.

Valdes Mesa was received in Ho Chi Minh City by the Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Voy Thi Anh Xuan, with whom he held an in-depth exchange that evaluated, as expressed by the Vice President himself on X, aspects of the state of relations between the two countries.
Cuban Foreign Ministry said that during his stay, Valdes Mesa will hold meetings with the highest authorities of the country.
