HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 20 (ACN) The will of the Venezuelan people was endorsed in the electoral result of July 28, with the resounding victory of President Nicolas Maduro, heir to the legacy of Chavez, in a legitimate and democratic process, said today Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
On X, the party leader called for an end to the meddling and manipulations that question the electoral process of the South American country.
Last August 2, the National Electoral Council ratified President Nicolas Maduro as the winner after reaching 51.95 % of the votes, after 96.87 % of the transmission of the electoral records were counted.
It was reported that the candidate closest to the president was the opposition candidate of the Democratic Unitary Platform, Edmundo Gonzalez, with 5,326,102 votes for 43.18 % of the ballots.
In spite of these results, external pressures continue and some countries question the legitimacy of the results; therefore, as of this Sunday, the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice started a verification process of the results at the request of President Nicolas Maduro.
