El Salvador Highlights Cooperation between ALBA-TCP NationsHAVANA, Cuba, Dec 14 (acn) Salvadorian President Salvador Sanchez highlighted on Sunday the importance of continuing to expand cooperation and solidarity between Latin American and Caribbean nations in search of real independence and sovereignty.

The Central American country participated as special guest in the 13th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Americas-Trade Treaty of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), a mechanism of integration that marked the 10th anniversary of its founding this December 14.

During his speech, the Salvadorian head of state acknowledged that the ALBA-TCP has gone into bonds of integration and democracy in the region in depth, while promoting justice and equality between the peoples.

He stressed that, thanks to the creation of this bloc, member nations have materialized important achievements in the fields of health, education, and the reduction of hunger and poverty.

In this regard, he called to take care of, love and share that legacy of Commanders Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, founders of the ALBA-TCP.

Sanchez pointed out that his country has taken an important step with its integration to Petrocaribe, a solidarity Agreement of Energy Cooperation proposed by the Venezuelan government to resolve asymmetries between Caribbean nations with respect to access to energy resources.

He also praised the initiative of the Sistema Unico de Compensacion Regional (Regional Single Compensation System, SUCRE), in order to strengthen possibilities for commercial exchanges between countries of the region.

The Salvadorian head of state reiterated his country's opposition to unilateral measures like the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, and the inclusion of Cuba on the list of nations supporting terrorism.

Likewise, he expressed the solidarity of that Central American nation in the defense of the Cuban and Venezuelan revolutions.
