Colombian Guerrillas Activate Humanitarian Protocol to Release Army General

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 29 (acn) Colombia´s Revolutionary Armed Forces-People´s Army (FARC-EP) announced on their website www.pazfarc-ep.org the activation of a special humanitarian protocol to release on Sunday General Alzate Mora, chief of the Colombian Army´s Titan Task Force, corporal Rodriguez Contrera and lawyer Gloria Urrego, who were held captive by the guerrillas in a war zone on November 16.

In the announcement, the guerrillas explaing that those persons will be handed over by commanders from the Ivan Rios contingent to the representatives of the International Red Cross, of Cuba and Norway, the two warrantor countries of the peace talks underway in Havana, who will take them to a military facility set up by the Colombian government.

The guerrillas added that they hope the weather favors the humanitarian mission and that they wish that the release extends its beneficial effects to political and social prisoners in the country.
