HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (acn) Alicia Barcena, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), asserted on Tuesday that the voting against the U.S. blockade of Cuba at the 69th period of sessions of the United Nations General Assembly is yet another example of how the international community continues to expect a positive reaction from the United States.
In a press conference in this capital, the official stressed that the elimination of that criminal policy "would be very important to achieve progress in the economic, political and social aspects in the region."
The executive secretary of the CEPAL said that the northern country loses a lot with the imposition of that siege, in reference to the damages suffered by its entrepreneurs, other sectors and the population itself.
The official announced that a meeting between universities of Latin America will soon be held, with the purpose of boosting technical education and therefore strengthen processes of integration and access to technologies.
