Cuban hurdler doesn't make it to finals in WorldsHAVANA, Cuba, Mar 21 (acn) Cuban Yordan O'Farrill was at the gates of the final in the men's 60 meters hurdles at the World Indoor Athletics Championship that concluded on Sunday in the US city of Portland.

O'Farrill, world junior monarch in Barcelona 2012, finished fifth in the second semifinal heat with time of 7.67 seconds, insufficient result to be included into the leading quartet qualified to the decisive round.
The Cuban athlete was beaten in the race by Jamaican Omar Mcleod (7.52), French Dimitri Bascou (7.63), Hungarian Balázs Baji (7.64), and local Spencer Adams (7.65), as reflected in the website of the International Federation of that sport.
Cuba attended this strong tournament with only three athletes in their preparation towards the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, to be held next August.
In addition to O'Farrill, the other two Cubans present in Portland were Johanis Portilla, men's 60 meters hurdles, and Rose Mary Almanza, women's 800m, who were both eliminated in their heats of the qualifying round.
Two years ago, the Caribbean nation won a medal of each color at the World Indoor Athletics Championship which hosted Sopot, Poland, harvest led by pole vaulter Yarisley Silva; while triple jumpers Pedro Pablo Pichardo and Ernesto Revé reached silver and bronze medals, in that order.
