HAVANA, Cuba , Mar 21 (acn) The double Olympic champion Pedro Luis Lazo will make one of the symbolic pitches that will mark the prelude to the match next Tuesday between the Cuban national team and the MLB squad Tampa Bay Rays.
The top winner pitcher in the national series (257 wins) and protagonist of excellent performances with the Cuban national side, 22 wins, 31 saves and only two losses, will share that moment with the also emblematic Luis Tiant, thrice MLB All Star.
The organizers reported they both pitch simultaneously from the box of Havana's Latinoamericano stadium as part of the brief ceremonial preamble planned by specialists from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER by its Spanish acronym).
It was also confirmed that Elber Ibarra will be the home plate umpire as part of a quartet of renowned local referees completed by Juan José Cuevas, Jorge Luis Perez and Luis Felipe Casañas.
Meanwhile, Angel Hernandez and Laz Diaz will be the contributions from MLB to play the role of referees.
