Cuban Durand surprised by performance in IPC Athletics World Championships

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 29 (acn) Cuban sprinter Omara Durand said she was surprised by her outstanding performance in the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, underway in Doha, Qatar, that includes 3 gold medals and four world records.

In statements to Cuban News Agency, Durand said the titles and times are the result of hard training. ¨I am really in great shape, but what I have achieved has surprised even me¨
On Wednesday, Durand won her third gold medal when she broke her own world record in the 100 meters dash in the T12 category (deep visually impaired) when she stopped the clocks at 11.48 seconds. She had set the best time in the world (11.65) this year in Toronto, Canada.
This was the fourth world record in less than a week, something she described as extraordinary.
Records are always amazing, and we set them when we give our best, she added. Her 23.03 seconds and 53.05 in the 200 and 400 meters went to books as the new world records too.
Overall, Cuba has won 6 gold medals and two silver one in Doha
