Cuban Boxing Dedicates Triumph to Fidel and Raul

Cuban Boxing Dedicates Triumph to Fidel and RaulHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 17 (acn) The boxers that played the leading role in Cuba's triumph at the recently concluded World Boxing Championship in Doha, Qatar, dedicated their victory to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and to the Cuban President, Army General Raul Castro.

We want to dedicate this victory to them, the Revolution and our people, expressed head coach Rolando Acebal minutes after arriving at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport on Friday.
It encouraged us a lot to know that fans were following competitions closely, because we work for them, pointed out Acebal, who described as unfair many of the decisions that were adverse to Cuban boxers.
His words followed the brief welcome meeting in which the vice-president of the Cuban Sports Institute, Roberto Leon, congratulated them on behalf of the Cuban Communist Party, the Government, the sports family and their followers.
The titles of Joahnys Argilagos (49 kg), Lazaro Alvarez (60), Arlen Lopez (75) and Julio Cesar La Cruz (81) defined that Cuba returned to the top of the world competition 10 years after its previous victory, when its crowns were also four.
The silver medals of Yosbany Veitia (52) and Erislandy Savon (91) and the bronze medal obtained by Yasnier Toledo (64) completed the island's medal tally in a championship in which Cuba was way ahead of Russia (2-1-1), the other country with more than one title.
