TORONTO, Canada, Jul 10 (acn) Mijail Lopez, double Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, led a group of Cubans also composed of referees, leaders and media workers, who traveled to Toronto for the 17th Pan American Games.
Among clouds and the almost imperceptible sound of the Air Canada plane, Lopez said he will be in Canada sooner than his teammates because once again he has the great honor of being the standard-bearer of Cuba in the opening parade.
The burly wrestler, who will debut here on July 16, has consecutively led the Cuban delegation at the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 and London 2012, Veracruz 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games and 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara.
The almost unbeatable athlete, who on Aug. 20 turns 33 years old, also said the rest of the Greco-Roman team is in top condition.
Finally Mijaín encouraged said: I will set the mattress on fire for my teammates. I am the first to compete and, although in my modality we do not have the same level of the freestyle, our medals will push others to imitate us to meet the agreement with our people.
