Cuban Women's Judo Team Returns Today

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 4 (acn) Cuban women´s judo team will return home today after finishing in the third place by teams and the fourth by countries in the Judo Grand Slam of Tokyo, Japan.
With six of seven judokas and without the presence of the men team, the disciples of Professor Ronaldo Veitia return home today with two silver medals, two bronze and two fifth places, a performance which guaranteed them to escort the host (6 -5 - 3) and the Netherlands ( 1-0-0).
The first three places by nations, mostly with more than a competitor per division, were occupied by the hosts (8-8-10), South Korea (3-0-3) and the Dutch (1-0 - 0).
Japan (4-3-5) also dominated the men's tournament, followed by South Koreans (3-0-0) and the French and Brazilians (0-1-2).
Dayaris Mestre, in 48 kilograms, and Idalis Ortiz (+78) earned silver metals, Yanet Bermoy (52) and Maricet Espinosa (63) got the bronze, and Onix Cortes (70) and Kaliema Antomachín (78) finished fifth.
Cubans had a total of 17 fights, with 11 wins, seven of these by Ippon (similar to the boxing knockout).
