Cuba lost to Venezuela at the Women’s Pan Am Baseball Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 21 (ACN) The Cuban women's baseball team suffered an 11-0 shutout loss to Venezuela, 11-0 in its debut at the Pan American Championship, held in that South American country.

The hosts tallied 10 hits in the five-inning game, including a double and four RBIs by third baseman Kimberly Caicedo, whereas Abril Amaro pitched a complete game for Venezuela, striking out five and allowing only two singles to the Cubans.

Next on Team Cuba’s schedule is Argentina on Monday―which lost 14-0 to Mexico in the opener―followed by Nicaragua and Mexico in consecutive days, before the cross-over semifinals.

The tournament grants three spots for the first round of the World Cup.
