HAVANA, Cuba, August 16 (ACN) Cuban wrestler Milaymi Marín lost in the semifinals to Ecuador's Génesis Reasco and will compete for the bronze medal of the 76 kg division at the World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
After winning two preliminary matches by technical superiority, Marín, third at the 2024 Olympic Games, lost 5-3 to Reasco, who had been beaten by the Cuban in the round of 16 at the previous 2023 World Championships in Belgrade.
Marín had won victories over Belarus' Anastasiya Zimiankova and Japan's Nodoka Yamamoto in the round of 16 and the quarterfinals, respectively.
If she gets the bronze medal―which would be her first at a senior-level World Championship―she will have improved her result at Belgrade, where she finished in fifth place.
