Cuban beach volleyball duo heading for Los Angeles 2028, who doubts it?

If we take into account the performance of the duo of Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the results in the World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour 2025, very few doubt that the disciples of Francisco Alvarez Cutiño will be among the great protagonists in the next event under the five rings of Los Angeles 2028.

Those present at the Champs de Mars, very close to the Eiffel Tower, were witnesses and entertainers of their performance when they won undefeated and without a set against them in group D, with 2-0 victories over Moroccans Mohammed Abicha and Zouheir Elgraoui, Americans Milas Partain and Andres Benesh and Brazilians George Soto and Andre Loyola.

Thus, they had to wait for the results of the other sections to know their next opponents in the next phase, in which they had to face the Swedes David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, who arrived in the City of Light as first in the world ranking.

Ahman and Hellvig won one match and lost two in their key, but they were in charge of leaving the Cubans on the road -octavos de final- with a 2-0 slate, with an easy first set of 21-11, but in the second they had to sweat to beat them 28-26.

Despite the defeat, Alvarez Cutiño's pupils received, once again, the deserved recognition with applause from the crowded stands and the animation by the amplification of the Parisian facility.

Recently, the main couple of the Island conquered the gold medal undefeated in the first phase of the North, Central America and Caribbean Circuit (Norceca) of beach volleyball 2025, with headquarters in Varadero.

But prior to the match that hosted one of the main tourist poles of Cuba, they had an impressive passage through Elite 16 and Challenge tournaments of the World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour 2025.

To sum up, Diaz and Alayo won the gold medal in the Elite 16 of Quintana Roo, a fifth place in the Challenger of Yucatan, in both cases in the Mexican arena, and another fifth place in the Elite 16 of Saquarema, Brazil, a country that also hosted the Elite 16 of Brasilia, from which they left with two setbacks in their qualifying group.

However, the May 5 update of the world ranking places them in seventh place, which they must maintain or improve in their upcoming commitments this summer, as recently expressed by Alvarez Cutiño, who said that there must be three Elite 16 tournaments.

Another important event will be the World Championship in Adelaide, Australia, from November 14 to 23.

They will have time to prove that they can be among the great protagonists in Los Angeles 2028. Then come 2026 and 2027, and with them the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from July 24 to August 8, and the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, from July 16 to August 1, respectively.
There, they will surely be among the great protagonists, only that in these multisport events they must climb to the top of the podium.
