Chilean Boxing Team Trains in Cuba

CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Mar 6 (acn) Six members of Chilean national boxing squad are training in this city since late February, overlooking the qualifying tournament for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, evidence of the prestige achieved by this territory in this sport.

Jesús Martínez Peña, coach of the Andean team, described as good the results in the preparation, especially as related to the concentration of his boys in Viet Nam Heroico Academy of this city, according to a report in local newspaper Adelante Digital.
We came with the goal of training here in Camagüey, the province with the best boxing in Cuba, a country that is distinguished by the skill, movement and good job with hands of its fighters, which we seek to develop in Chilean boxers, added Martinez.
The Pan American qualifying tournament shall be held in Tijuana, Mexico, from March 25 to 31 and there they expect to earn at least two tickets to the continental event of Toronto, next July, and their best hopes lay in welterweight Daniel Muñoz and heavyweight Miguel Veliz, silver and bronze medalists respectively in the last Giraldo Cordova Cardin International Tournament.
The list is completed by the middleweight Joseph Cherkaskyn, who was runner up in Andres Campos 2014 South American Games, in the 52 kilograms, Ramón Mascareños (64) and Julio Alamos (81).
