Cuba Beats Canada 2-1 in U-20 SoccerHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 20 (acn) The Cuban U-20 soccer team beat 2-1 Canada yesterday in the CONCACAF world cup qualifying tournament based in Kingston, Jamaica.

The pupils of Coach William Bennet were forced to win as they were in the bottom of Group B, with a single point, thanks to the 2-2 draw against Haiti in their previous match. In the first two games they were easily defeated by Mexico (9-1) and Honduras (3-0).

According to the websites consulted, the forward Frank Manuel López was the Cuban man of the match as he scored the two goals at 5´ and 40´ minutes, while defender Jackson Farmer scored for the Canadians (53´).

So far, and after four games, Cuba presents balance of one win, one draw and two defeats, with five goals for and 15 against.

With this win, the Cuban players kept alive their hopes of qualifying for New Zealand 2015 World Cup, to which this event on Jamaican soil grants four tickets.

Cuba's final match of the preliminary stage will be on Thursday 22 against El Salvador, which was beaten yesterday 1-3 by the leader Mexico and now owns five points.
