HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 15 (acn) In search of a needed victory, the Cuban U-20 soccer team faces Haiti today in a match of group B of the CONCACAF world cup qualifying tournament, based in Jamaica.
This event involves 12 teams divided into two groups of six teams each, in pursuit of four tickets to the World Cup of the category, to be held this year in New Zealand.
Cubans can't afford any more defeat since they were previously beaten by Mexico (1-9) and Honduras (0-3). So, the coach William Bennet expects the offensive awakening of their forwards Frank Manuel Lopez and Eddy Luis Saname, who scored the goal against Mexicans.
To do this, it will be key the performances of the playmaker Robert Peraza and the offensive midfielder Roberney Caballero, who apparently have not properly fed their strikers.
According to reports, the leaders of each group will qualify directly to the world cup in New Zealand. Meanwhile, teams finishing second and third in each group will be "seeded" by their results in the knockout stage.
In addition, the best of this quartet will face the one with fewer points achieved, while the second will do it against the third side. The winners of those two games will also attend the aforementioned contest.
