HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 20 (acn) The Cuban cyclist Arnold Alcolea will defend today his leader's jersey of the intermediate sprints, when intervening in the seventh stage of the 50th edition of the Tour of Costa Rica.
Today's stage is of 135.9 kilometers between the towns of Liberia and Puntarenas, where Alcolea (29 points) will try to retain his leadership as he is followed by Argentine Sebastián Tolosa (22), and Chilean Pedro Palma (11), in that order, according to the official website of the event.
Alcolea was about to win the sixth stage of the competition yesterday, but he was surpassed in a final sprint by local Jose Vega.
After this result the host Josue Gonzalez continues as general leader of the contest with time of 18: 59. 07 hours.
González is escorted by the also locals Juan Carlos Rojas, just four seconds behind, and Roman Villalobos (-16 seconds).
