HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 9 (acn) The U-20 Cuban soccer team will play today the first of two friendly matches against Aruba at Pedro Marrero Stadium, in Havana.
The Cuban side, coached by former goalkeeper William Bennet, could line up, among others, the talented Brian Rosales and David Urgellés, who highlighted at the last Central American and Caribbean Games Veracruz 2014.
They could join the attackers from Cienfuegos and Havana respectively, Frank Manuel Lopez and Eddy Luis Saname.
The second game will be held next Thursday on the anniversary of the Cuban Soccer Player Day. Both teams are training to face the final of the North, Central American and Caribbean Confederation (CONCACAF), to be headquartered in Jamaica from January 8 to 24.
That tournament in Jamaica will enroll 12 squads divided into two groups and the first place of each poole will qualify directly to New Zealand 2015 U-20 World Cup.
Cuba appears on Group B along with Haiti, Canada, Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador, while Poole A includes the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Panama, Guatemala and the locals.
The second and third places in each group will be seeded by their results in the group stage. The best team of these four will face the one with least points achieved, while the second will do it against the third one. The winners of those two games will also attend the World Cup.
