Cuban pole Vaulter Silva Sets CAC Record, Wins GoldHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 25 (acn) Cuban Yarisley Silva won the gold medal in the women's pole vault, with new record of 4.60 meters in the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz .

Silva, London 2012 Olympic silver medalist, won without too much effort and surpassed the previous mark of 4.20 meters for such events.
Puerto Rican Diamara Planell and Venezuelan Rosbeilys Peinado, both with 4.15 meters, escorted Silva in the awards podium in that order.
Also on Monday, in women's hammer event, Cuba won gold and silver medals through Yipsi Moreno, with 71.35 meters , which was also a record for the competition, and Yurisleydi Ford (69.62).
Colombian Eli Moreno (67.77), winner four years ago, this time won the bronze medal.
