VERACRUZ, Mexico, Nov 24 (acn) Arlen Lopez defeated 3-0 Colombian Jorge Vivas achieving thus Cuba's seven consecutive win in the boxing tournament of the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games, held at the World Trade Center of this city.
The stellar Cuban middleweight said he followed his coaches´ instructions and things went well against a man who has some quality and this result is mainly due to the hard training throughout the year.
"The team is very good, and its members have shown great responsibility and concentration, which is important to achieve the goals we have set," Julián González Cedeño, Cuban Coach said.
Previously the Cuban boxing squad had reached four wins, all 3-0, including the one by the light heavyweight double world champion Julio Cesar La Cruz over Trinitarian Andrew Fermin.
The super heavyweight Yoandris Toirac, continental champion, beat Clayton Laurent from Virgin Islands, and flyweight Yosbany Veitía did the same against Guatemalan Eddy Valenzuela.
The only Cuban boxer who has not assured the bronze medal is the twice champion of the world Lazaro Alvarez, who defeated Panamanian Jaime Muñoz in the lightweight division but he expects to achieve this goal today when facing Colombian Feider Hernandez.
