XALAPA, Mexico, Nov 21 (acn) Cuban Yudelmis Dominguez reached the podium for the third time in the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games by winning the silver medal in the women's cycling points race, second of that color, plus the gold in team pursuit.
Dominguez achieved 39 points and was only surpassed by the local Lizbeth Salazar, who totaled 47 units.
I really thought I could take the title because I feel in good shape, but actually Mexicans have improved a lot, they have a tremendous coach, our compatriot Pedro Palmer, and that we already corroborated in the team pursuit event, where they made us considerable resistance in the final and this race was also very tough, the courageous Cuban cyclist expressed.
Yudelmis was part of the quartet that conquered the title in the women's team pursuit and also won silver medal in individual pursuit, but she still has to compete in the road events in a circuit at 1 400 meters above sea level.
I 'm happy, primarily because in the individual pursuit I beat for the first time the Olympic and world medalist Maria Luisa Calle, who always defeated me in the finals, but now I strictly followed my strategy, and thus Marlies Mejias and I won gold and silver medals respectively.
Dominguez added that after these games she will take a rest because she wants to become a mother.
