Cuban Swimmer Has Outstanding performance in Veracruz Games

Cuban Swimmer Has Outstanding performance in Veracruz GamesHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (acn) Cuban Elisbet Gamez won the bronze medal in the swimming event of women's 200 meter freestyle at the Central American and Caribbean Games Veracruz 2014, to give the Caribbean nation its second medal in the sport.

With time of 2: 02.08, Gamez, who is only 17, had an amazing performance at Boca del Rio Olympic pool, and was only preceded by Venezuela's star Andreina Pinto (2: 00.42), who won her second title in this contest, and Colombian Jessica Maria Camposano (2: 00.68 ).

It would seem to be just an ordinary result, but considering this girl was born far from major cities, and learnt to swim in a river, her bronze medal, one of the top performances of any Cuban woman in Central American games, takes the feat to another level.

Now, gamez will have some other shots in these Games, and considering her youth and talent, she will have a guaranteed place in Cuban teams in years to come.
