HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 4 (acn) Erislandy Savon, Rolando Acebal and Javier Ibáñez won for Cuba three major awards annually instituted recently by the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
Savon, in the cruiserweights, was proclaimed the best competitor of the Fourth World Series, where he won eight fights, became the coronation pillar of the Cuba Domadores and generated praise among specialists from various countries.
Acebal was the award as best technical specialist after leading his team into a golden premiere smashed forecasts thanks to the strategy adapted to the collective work and drove the available talent.
Overall balance of 63 successes and only 18 losses summarized the work of a fully native team who led their qualifying group comfortably, maintained strength in the following two steps and was consecrated in the finals.
The choice of featherweight Ibanez atop youth responded to his leadership in the world championship of that category and the Youth Olympic Games, and also took into account that he was the best in the first of those contests.
The note sent by AIBA states that the awards will be presented on November 24th at the South Korean city of Jeju, on completion of the world championship for ladies.
